Frequently Asked Questions About Hypnotherapy
What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?
As a Solution Focused therapist, I help you to concentrate on your preferred future rather than delving into your past which may bring back painful or traumatic memories. Instead, we work together to find positive solutions to help you reach your goals and ultimately become ‘The New You’.
What is hypnosis & what is it like?
Hypnotic trance occurs when our subconscious and conscious minds come together in focus which we all experience in our daily lives, like daydreaming. It happens when we concentrate on something and are not conscious of time passing, such as driving a regular route, watching television, reading a book, running or whilst at the gym. We usually recognise this daydreaming state when we come of out of it, rather than when it occurs.
Am I in control?
Yes, is the simple answer. Your brain won’t do anything it doesn’t want to do and therefore means you are in control of everything that happens.
Will I remember what happens?
Most clients remember some of it, whether they are in a light or deep trance state. It is just like having a conversation with someone, you wouldn’t ordinarily remember everything that is said, only some of it.
What is involved in a session?
The initial consultation consists of what you want to achieve, how hypnotherapy can help, an explanation of the brain, how many sessions you are likely to need and given a free MP3 relaxation download.
Subsequent sessions: the first part involves your ‘what’s been good’ and positive steps to move forward, followed by you being seated or lying comfortably whilst I guide you into a deep state of relaxation and provide positive suggestions tailored to your specific goals.
Does Hypnotherapy work online as well as it does face-to-face?
Hypnotherapy works just as effectively online as it does face-to-face. All you need is to find somewhere private, with no interruptions and have a good internet connection. Online sessions are done via Zoom.
